Honor Unveils the Magic V6: The Thin-Foldable Phone with an Industry-First IP69 Rating

Barcelona, Spain – In a bold assertion of innovation at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026, Honor has launched its latest flagship device, the Magic V6. The company claims this is the world’s thinnest book-style foldable phone, further enhancing its reputation as a significant player in the competitive smartphone market. This year’s model not only boasts remarkable slimness but also integrates powerful performance enhancements, including a robust battery and cutting-edge waterproofing features.

At just 4 mm in thickness when opened and 8.75 mm when closed, the Honor Magic V6 narrowly outshines its predecessors, including last year’s Magic V5 and Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, which stand at respective thicknesses of 8.80 mm and 8.90 mm. While these differences might seem minuscule—only 0.05 mm and 0.15 mm—the design offers sleek feel similar to that of traditional smartphones, reinforcing the idea that foldable devices can indeed compete on form factor.

Three Record-Breaking Innovations

In a strategic move, Honor has tied its latest releases to multiple industry records. The V6 is now dubbed the first foldable phone with an IP69 rating, surpassing Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold, which only had an IP68 rating. The IP69 rating indicates superior protection against both dust and high-temperature, high-pressure water exposure. Users can confidently utilize their device in more rigorous environments such as industrial car washes or even during showers, blurring the lines between regular Smartphones and ruggedized devices.

Power Packed Performance

The Honor Magic V6 is equipped with an impressive 6,660 mAh battery, which is 50% larger than that of the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s 4,400 mAh. This significant upgrade continues to file under the hallmark of Honor devices, focusing on providing lasting battery life, particularly for users navigating demanding multitasking or gaming activities. The phone employs a silicon-carbon battery with an increased silicon content of 25%, which enhances the device’s energy density. Honor has even teased a 32% silicon battery for a future 1TB model, trending toward breaking the 7,000 mAh barrier.

Camera Innovations & High-End Specs

Despite its thin profile, the phone integrates a powerful camera system, including a 64-megapixel periscope lens, which the company touts as the “best telephoto in a foldable.” While still on pre-release software, early impressions hint at strong potential, although comparisons with competing brands like Vivo will clarify its standing in the market.

Furthermore, the device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, coupled with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, ensuring a seamless experience across various applications. Features like stylus support, 80W wired charging, and wireless charging add to its appeal, although there seems to be no support for magnetic Qi2 wireless charging as yet.

Enhanced Ecosystem Integration for Apple Users

In an unexpected move, Honor is also aligning closer with Apple’s ecosystem. The Magic V6 will feature compatibility for AirPods, including the coveted Find My tracking capability—though, paradoxically, it does not extend this feature to other devices compatible with Find My. The ability to sync notifications with Apple products further blurs the lines between Android and iOS ecosystems, indicating Honor’s aspirations to create an inclusive device for versatile users.

What’s Next for Honor

Honor’s latest release democratizes the premium smartphone market with record-setting achievements surrounding the Magic V6. While the company is yet to announce specific pricing or availability for international markets, this flagship model embodies a blend of technological prowess and user-centric design.

As smartphones continue to evolve rapidly, the launch of the Magic V6 sets a competitive precedent for the foldable category. The eventual rollout later this year could offer users influential insights into exactly how well these claims hold up in daily use.

Honor’s foray into high-performance foldable devices demonstrates that the industry is on the cusp of finding an equilibrium between tradition and innovation, exemplifying how far the technology has come, while also indicating a thrilling future ahead for smartphone enthusiasts.
