Afreximbank Unveils Second Season of ‘Impact Stories’ Documentary Series Highlighting Africa’s Economic Transformation
Cairo, March 12, 2024 — The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has launched the highly anticipated second season of its documentary series, Impact Stories, continuing its mission to showcase the transformative power of strategic investments across Africa and its diaspora. Produced in collaboration with Create, CNN International Commercial’s branded content studio, the new season expands its geographic reach, featuring compelling narratives from Grenada, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and Nigeria.
Building on the success of its debut season, Impact Stories delves deeper into the Bank’s initiatives, capturing the human and economic impact of projects that are reshaping communities and economies. Each of the six episodes focuses on landmark endeavors, from infrastructure development to creative industries, offering viewers an intimate look at the partnerships driving Africa’s prosperity.
Showcasing Africa’s Ambition
The documentary series takes audiences on a journey across continents, highlighting projects that symbolize Africa’s growing economic ambition. In Grenada, the expansion of Silversands Resort serves as a flagship example of strengthened Africa-Caribbean cooperation. Meanwhile, in Nigeria, viewers will witness the transformative impact of the Dangote Refinery in Lagos and the revitalization of Aba’s industrial hub through the Geometric Power project, which brings reliable electricity to a historic manufacturing center.
Ghana’s cocoa industry is another focal point, with the series tracking the journey of cocoa beans from farm to global markets, thanks to Afreximbank’s partnership with Plot Enterprise. The creative economy also takes center stage, featuring Ghanaian fashion brand Boyedoe as it prepares for its debut at Paris Fashion Week, supported by the Bank’s Creative Africa Nexus (CANEX) program.
The final episode spotlights the renovation of Abidjan’s iconic Félix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium, demonstrating how investments in national infrastructure can deliver cultural and economic benefits for local communities.
A Vision for Global Africa
Mrs. Anne Ezeh, Director of Communications and Events at Afreximbank, emphasized the series’ significance in documenting the Bank’s mission. “These films go beyond showcasing investments; they tell stories of partnership and progress,” she said. “They highlight our commitment to fostering economic independence and integration across Global Africa. By sharing these narratives, we aim to inspire businesses and entrepreneurs to accelerate intra-African trade and forge cross-border collaborations that drive development.”
Martin Laing, Senior Director of Production and Global Executive Producer at CNN International Commercial’s Create Brand Studio, echoed this sentiment. “Collaborating with Afreximbank on Impact Stories has been a privilege,” he said. “This season continues to tell powerful human stories while showcasing the real-world impact of their initiatives. We’re proud to connect meaningfully with audiences worldwide through this international series.”
Engaging a Global Audience
The new episodes premiered on March 12 on Afreximbank’s YouTube channel, Afreximbank TV, and will be promoted through high-impact formats on CNN.com and a long-form TV campaign across CNN International. By documenting its projects, Afreximbank aims to demonstrate how strategic investments are turning opportunities into tangible prosperity for businesses and communities across Africa and the Caribbean.
As Impact Stories Season Two unfolds, it serves as a testament to Afreximbank’s mandate to finance and promote trade while inspiring a vision of a prosperous, integrated Global Africa.
