HARRISON, N.J. — The New York Red Bulls delivered an electrifying performance Saturday night, defeating Cincinnati FC 4-2 in a high-energy Major League Soccer showdown at Red Bull Arena. Teenage sensation Julian Hall, Swedish star Emil Forsberg, and Mohammed Sofo all found the net, while goalkeeper Ethan Horvath made crucial saves to secure the win.

Early Drama Sets the Tone

The Red Bulls struck first in the 12th minute when 18-year-old homegrown talent Julian Hall capitalized on a swift counterattack. Cade Cowell delivered a sharp low cross from the right flank, and Hall’s first-time finish took a slight deflection off Cincinnati keeper Evan Louro before trickling into the net.

Hall, who has now scored in consecutive matches, continues to impress with five goals this season—a remarkable feat for the young forward.

Cincinnati responded quickly, leveling the score just five minutes later. A long ball from Samuel Gidi found Kevin Denkey, who slipped a clever pass to Pavel Bucha. The midfielder calmly slotted home from inside the penalty arc, making it 1-1 in the 17th minute.

Forsberg’s Stunner Shifts Momentum

The second half began with a moment of brilliance from Emil Forsberg. Just three minutes after the break, the Swedish international curled a stunning free kick from the edge of the box, smashing it off the crossbar and into the net to put New York back in front, 2-1.

The Red Bulls extended their lead in the 66th minute when Cowell’s cross from the right was inadvertently turned into his own net by Cincinnati defender Kyle Smith.

But Cincinnati refused to go quietly. Smith redeemed himself six minutes later, pulling a goal back with a well-taken finish to cut the deficit to 3-2.

Late Red Card Seals Cincinnati’s Fate

The visitors’ hopes of a comeback took a major blow in stoppage time when Alvas Powell was shown a straight red card, forcing Cincinnati to finish the match with 10 men.

Mohammed Sofo then put the game beyond doubt, adding a fourth for New York to cap off a dominant offensive display.

Ethan Horvath was solid in goal for the Red Bulls, making four key saves, while Louro managed three stops for Cincinnati.

What This Means for Both Teams

With this victory, the Red Bulls improve to 3-2-1, showing promising form early in the season. Meanwhile, Cincinnati’s struggles continue as they fall to 2-4-0, leaving them with work to do in the Eastern Conference standings.

Fans were treated to an action-packed match filled with spectacular goals, defensive lapses, and late drama—a fitting showcase of MLS excitement.
