Air France Boosts Nairobi-Paris Route with Larger Aircraft as Demand Grows

Nairobi, May 2024 — Air France is ramping up its operations in East Africa by deploying a larger aircraft on its Nairobi-Paris route starting May 15, signaling growing demand for travel between the region and Europe.

The airline will replace its current Airbus A350 with a Boeing 777-200, increasing passenger capacity by 12%. The move aligns with Air France’s broader strategy to expand services in key African and Asian markets, including Tokyo, Singapore, and Bangkok, as part of its 2026 summer schedule.

Stronger Connectivity for Business and Tourism

The upgraded route will offer seamless connections through Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, Air France’s primary hub, linking travelers to over 300 destinations worldwide via the SkyTeam alliance. The expansion is expected to benefit business travelers, diplomats, and tourists while reinforcing Nairobi’s role as a regional aviation and economic hub.

Kenya has been steadily growing as a center for finance, logistics, and diplomacy in East Africa, driving demand for premium air travel. Air France’s decision reflects broader industry trends, with airlines shifting capacity toward Africa and Asia amid geopolitical disruptions in other regions.

Enhanced Passenger Experience

Alongside the aircraft upgrade, Air France is rolling out improved onboard amenities, including its exclusive La Première first-class suites and high-speed Wi-Fi across its fleet. These upgrades aim to attract high-end travelers and corporate clients seeking comfort and connectivity.

Globally, Air France’s summer network will cover nearly 170 destinations in 73 countries, with long-haul capacity increasing by 2% compared to 2025. The airline’s adjustments highlight the evolving dynamics of post-pandemic travel, where carriers are prioritizing high-growth markets.

Booking Now Open

Travelers can now access the updated flight schedules through Air France’s official booking channels. The move is expected to further solidify Kenya’s position as a key player in Africa’s aviation landscape.
