Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus Wows Columbus with High-Flying Acts and Modern Flair

Columbus, Ohio — The iconic Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus returned to Columbus this weekend, captivating audiences with a dazzling blend of traditional circus acts and modern performances. Held at the Schottenstein Center from April 30 to May 3, the show combined acrobatics, music, and audience interaction, leaving spectators on the edge of their seats.

Ahead of the main performances, the circus hosted preview demonstrations at COSI, giving families a sneak peek of the show’s innovative format. “This isn’t your grandfather’s circus,” said Juanita Olivo, host and singer for the production. “We’ve brought together music, movement, and interactivity to create an experience that’s fresh and unforgettable.”

One of the show’s standout acts features Skyler, the “human rocket,” who is launched from a cannon at speeds exceeding 60 miles per hour. Other highlights include the criss-cross trapeze, where performers execute gravity-defying triple flips while narrowly avoiding collisions mid-air. “It’s thrilling, high-energy, and keeps the audience gasping,” said Ezeaiel Pranis Ricci, an acrobat performer.

Ricci, who specializes in the rolling wheel act, emphasized the circus’s ability to inspire audiences, particularly children. “When kids see us performing these seemingly impossible feats, it encourages them to dream bigger and believe in their own potential,” he said.

The production also incorporates interactive segments, inviting the audience to join in the fun. “There’s a dance party, singing along, and moments where everyone feels like they’re part of the show,” Olivo explained. “We want families to leave feeling like they’ve been part of something magical.”

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey’s Columbus run features two shows daily, offering flexible options for families to experience the spectacle. Attendees can expect a fusion of classic circus elements—such as acrobatics and aerial acts—with modern choreography and a vibrant soundtrack.

The circus’s return to Columbus marks a celebration of creativity and resilience, showcasing the enduring appeal of live entertainment. “We’ve worked hard to reimagine the circus for today’s audiences,” Olivo said. “It’s about honoring our legacy while embracing new possibilities.”

For those planning to attend, the Schottenstein Center provides ample seating and convenient access, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all ages.

As the curtains close on each performance, one thing is clear: Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus continues to dazzle and inspire, proving that the magic of the big top is alive and well.
