Anheuser-Busch Invests $5 Million in Columbus Brewery to Boost Michelob ULTRA Production

COLUMBUS, OHIO — Anheuser-Busch, the global brewing giant, has unveiled a $5 million investment in its Columbus brewery to ramp up production of its popular Michelob ULTRA and Michelob ULTRA Zero brands. The move is part of the company’s broader $600 million Brewing Futures initiative, aimed at enhancing facilities and workforce development across the United States.

The Columbus brewery, which has been a cornerstone of the local economy for over 50 years, will use the funds to modernize operations and meet the surging demand for Michelob ULTRA, the nation’s top-selling and fastest-growing beer. Michelob ULTRA Zero, its non-alcoholic counterpart, also holds the title of the leading non-alcoholic brew in the country.

“This investment strengthens our ability to brew the highest-quality American beers that consumers love, while creating and sustaining jobs in the communities where we operate,” said Brendan Whitworth, CEO of Anheuser-Busch. “By continuously investing in our facilities and people, we are proud to help drive economic growth in communities like Columbus and reinforce our unwavering commitment to the future of American manufacturing.”

The announcement follows the company’s recent plans to establish a technical skills training center in Columbus by 2025. The center aims to upskill more than 90% of Anheuser-Busch’s manufacturing workforce over the next five years, ensuring employees are equipped with the latest technologies and techniques in beer production.

“Ohio’s strongest workforce solutions start with employers. Anheuser-Busch’s Columbus investment puts that model into action by building technical skills, strengthening an iconic Ohio operation, and helping keep Ohio manufacturing competitive,” said Ryan Augsburger, president of the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association.

Over the past five years, Anheuser-Busch has poured more than $71 million into its Columbus brewery, solidifying its commitment to the region. This latest investment underscores the company’s confidence in the brewery’s role as a key player in its U.S. operations and its dedication to innovation and quality.

The Brewing Futures initiative reflects Anheuser-Busch’s strategy to stay ahead in a competitive market by investing in both infrastructure and its workforce. As consumer preferences continue to shift toward lighter, low-calorie, and non-alcoholic options, the company is positioning itself to meet these demands while supporting local economies.

For Columbus, the investment is a win-win. It not only boosts production capacity but also reinforces the brewery’s status as a vital employer and contributor to the community’s economic growth.

With Michelob ULTRA and Michelob ULTRA Zero leading the charge, Anheuser-Busch is brewing more than just beer—it’s crafting a sustainable future for American manufacturing.
