U.S. Route 22 Resurfacing Project Kicks Off in Clinton County, Ohio

CLINTON COUNTY, Ohio — A major resurfacing project on U.S. Route 22 in Clinton County is set to begin preliminary work on Wednesday, April 8, announced the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). The project, which will span the stretch between the western boundary of Wilmington and the Warren County line, aims to improve road conditions and enhance safety for drivers.

What Drivers Can Expect
The preliminary phase of the project will run through early May, with paving operations expected to follow soon after. Throughout the construction period, traffic will be maintained in at least one lane using flaggers and other traffic control devices to minimize disruptions. Motorists are advised to plan for potential delays and exercise caution when traveling through the construction zone.

ODOT emphasized that the resurfacing project is part of ongoing efforts to maintain and upgrade Ohio’s infrastructure. The agency expects the work to be completed by early November, weather permitting.

Why It Matters
U.S. Route 22 serves as a vital transportation corridor for Clinton County, connecting communities and supporting local commerce. The resurfacing project will address wear and tear on the road, ensuring smoother and safer travel for residents, commuters, and commercial vehicles alike.

“This project is essential for maintaining the integrity of our roadways and ensuring the safety of everyone who uses them,” said an ODOT spokesperson.

Community Impact
Local residents and business owners have expressed mixed reactions to the project. While many welcome the much-needed improvements, others are concerned about potential inconveniences caused by construction.

“It’s a bit of a hassle, but I understand it’s necessary,” said Sarah Thompson, a Wilmington resident who commutes daily on Route 22. “I just hope they finish on schedule so we can get back to normal.”

ODOT has urged drivers to stay informed about updates on the project and to follow posted signs and speed limits in the construction area. Real-time traffic information and project updates will be available on ODOT’s website and mobile app.

Looking Ahead
As construction begins, ODOT remains committed to minimizing disruptions while delivering a high-quality resurfacing project. The agency has assured the public that it will work diligently to complete the project efficiently and safely.

For now, drivers in Clinton County should prepare for changes in traffic patterns and potential delays. With improved road conditions on the horizon, the long-term benefits of the project are expected to outweigh the short-term inconveniences.
