Ethiopia’s Transformation Inspires African Influencers at Addis Ababa Summit
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – June 2026
Africa’s top digital creators and influencers gathered in Ethiopia’s capital this week, praising the country’s rapid development in infrastructure, technology, and cultural preservation as a model for the continent.
The African Social Media Influencers Summit (ASMIS) 2026, held in Addis Ababa, brought together prominent content creators, media experts, and communication specialists to discuss how digital platforms can amplify authentic African stories.
During the event, participants toured key Ethiopian projects, including the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute, major corridor developments, and other infrastructure sites—showcasing the nation’s ambitious modernization efforts.
“Ethiopia is My Second Home” – Wode Maya’s Praise
Ghanaian influencer Wode Maya, a well-known advocate for African progress, described Ethiopia’s transformation as a blueprint for the continent. Having visited multiple times since 2017, he noted dramatic improvements, from expanded road networks to the construction of a new international airport.
“Ethiopia is my second home,” he said. “Every time I return, I see incredible changes—new highways, tech hubs, and modern urban planning. This country proves Africa can develop rapidly when there’s vision and commitment.”
Wode Maya, a former ambassador for Ethiopian Airlines, emphasized his personal connection to the nation. “I’m always motivated to showcase Ethiopia’s progress because it’s proof of what’s possible. The rest of Africa should take notes.”
AI Investments Draw Praise
Nigerian content creator Chukwueze Odinaka highlighted Ethiopia’s growing leadership in artificial intelligence. “At a time when AI is reshaping the world, Ethiopia’s focus on this sector is impressive,” he said.
The country’s AI Institute has become a hub for innovation, with investments aimed at boosting both national development and individual opportunities. “I rate Ethiopia’s AI efforts 100 out of 100,” Odinaka added. “This is how African nations should prepare for the future.”
Cultural Heritage as a Source of Pride
Tealo Lualo, an influencer from Lesotho, pointed to Ethiopia’s unbroken history and cultural identity as a source of inspiration. “Ethiopia was never colonized, and it maintains its own calendar—these are symbols of African resilience,” he said.
“Preserving culture is powerful, and Ethiopia teaches us that heritage is an asset, not a relic of the past,” Lualo added. “This is a lesson for all of Africa.”
A Continental Blueprint?
The summit’s discussions reinforced a growing sentiment: Ethiopia’s blend of modernization and cultural preservation offers a unique path for African development. With its mix of tech investments, infrastructure expansion, and historical pride, the country is positioning itself as a leader in Africa’s next chapter.
As influencers return to their home countries, many say they’ll carry Ethiopia’s story forward—proving that progress and tradition can coexist.
