Cleveland Gears Up for Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 17

Cleveland is ready to paint the town green this St. Patrick’s Day, as the city hosts its annual parade on Tuesday, March 17, the actual holiday. Unlike many cities that celebrated over the weekend, Cleveland is sticking to tradition, offering locals and visitors alike a vibrant midweek celebration.

The parade will kick off at 1:04 p.m. from Superior Avenue at East 18th Street, following the same route as previous years. City officials and the United Irish Societies of Greater Cleveland have confirmed that the route will remain unchanged for this year’s event, though adjustments are planned for 2027 and beyond. These future changes will be revealed after this year’s festivities wrap up to avoid confusion.

With thousands expected to line the streets, attendees should prepare for significant road closures and parking restrictions. Cleveland police will monitor traffic flow throughout the day, adjusting closures and restrictions as needed to ensure safety and efficiency. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to posted signs, as vehicles parked in restricted areas will be ticketed and towed. Towed cars can be retrieved from the city’s Impound Unit at 3040 Quigley Road.

To avoid parking hassles, officials recommend using public transit. The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) provides convenient access to downtown, and its services are expected to be heavily utilized. Parking garages, including Willard Garage, will charge $12 for early arrivals from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m., but event-goers must return to their vehicles by 10:30 p.m., as overnight parking is not permitted.

Public safety remains a top priority. Cleveland’s Emergency Operations Center will be activated on March 17, staffed with members of the police, fire, EMS, and other law enforcement agencies. This coordinated effort allows first responders to monitor activities in real-time and respond swiftly to any incidents.

Families attending the parade are encouraged to designate a meeting point in case of separation. The Child Reunification Center will be located at Terminal Tower, 50 Public Square. Parents should remind children to seek out a uniformed officer or event staff member if they become lost.

For non-emergency concerns, Cleveland Police can be reached at 216-621-1234. In emergencies, dial 911.

As Cleveland embraces the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, the city promises a festive, safe, and memorable celebration for all. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, don’t miss this beloved tradition that brings the community together in a sea of green.
