New Meijer Supercenter to Open on Historic Geauga Lake Site in Bainbridge Township
CLEVELAND — A new chapter is unfolding for the former Geauga Lake amusement park site as retail giant Meijer prepares to open its latest supercenter in Bainbridge Township this spring. The 159,000-square-foot store, located at 7300 Aurora Road, is set to welcome shoppers on May 6, marking a significant milestone for both the community and the Michigan-based retailer.
The new Bainbridge Township location holds special significance for locals, as it rises on the grounds of the iconic Geauga Lake amusement park, a cherished memory for many residents. The park, which closed in 2007, was once a beloved destination for families across Northeast Ohio. Now, the site will transform into a modern shopping hub designed to meet the needs of the community.
Todd Anderson, Meijer’s vice president of the Ohio Region, expressed enthusiasm about the project. “We’ve received incredibly positive feedback from customers about the value and convenience we offer, and we’re thrilled to bring that experience to Aurora and Bainbridge Township,” Anderson said. “Being part of this historic redevelopment at Geauga Lake is an honor, and we can’t wait to serve our new neighbors.”
The supercenter promises to be a one-stop shop for shoppers, featuring a wide range of amenities. Highlights include a bakery, meat and seafood departments, a deli counter, and a floral section. Additionally, the store will offer a garden center and a full-service pharmacy with a convenient drive-through option.
This location will be Meijer’s 59th store in Ohio, further solidifying the retailer’s presence in the state. Ohio holds a special place in Meijer’s history as the first state the company expanded into outside its Michigan headquarters. Today, Meijer employs more than 14,000 Ohioans across its stores.
The opening of the Bainbridge Township supercenter also brings job opportunities to the area. Meijer is currently hiring for both part-time and full-time positions at the new location. Interested applicants can explore openings and apply online at Meijer’s careers website.
For many residents, the arrival of Meijer represents not only convenience but also a nod to the area’s storied past. The transformation of the Geauga Lake site into a bustling retail center bridges the gap between nostalgia and progress, offering a fresh beginning for a location steeped in history.
As the May 6 opening date approaches, anticipation is building in Bainbridge Township and beyond. The new Meijer supercenter is poised to become a cornerstone of the community, blending modern retail with a touch of local heritage.
