Nairobi Set to Host Africa-France Summit 2026: Spotlight on Young African Entrepreneurs
Nairobi, Kenya’s bustling capital, will take centre stage in May 2026 as it hosts the highly anticipated Africa-France Summit, titled “Africa Forward.” The event, a cornerstone of diplomatic and economic collaboration, aims to strengthen partnerships between Africa and France, with a particular focus on innovation and sustainable growth.
The Summit, championed by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto, will bring together leaders, policymakers, and industry experts from across the globe. However, this year’s gathering will shine a spotlight on a new generation of African entrepreneurs through an innovative platform called Nova Garage.
A Platform for Tomorrow’s Innovators
Organized by the French-African Foundation and the Autonomous Advancement Initiative, in partnership with Concerto and Nuvision, Nova Garage is more than just an event—it’s a movement. Designed as a dynamic space for showcasing, dialogue, and collaboration, it will feature 15 young African entrepreneurs under the age of 35, handpicked through a pan-African campaign.
These innovators will present their groundbreaking solutions to a jury of investors, corporate leaders, and international policymakers. From energy and agriculture to mobility and finance, their projects reflect the ingenuity of Africa’s youth in tackling the continent’s most pressing challenges.
Why Nairobi?
Nairobi’s selection as the host city is no coincidence. Known as the “Silicon Savannah,” Kenya’s capital is a hub for technological innovation, home to over 400 active tech startups. In 2025 alone, the city attracted nearly $1 billion in investments, driven by its thriving cleantech and fintech ecosystems.
“Nairobi embodies Africa’s digital transformation,” says a spokesperson for the Summit. “It’s the perfect backdrop for discussions on innovation and economic growth.”
A Lasting Legacy
Beyond the Summit, Nova Garage aims to create a lasting network that connects African entrepreneurs, companies, and investors across continents. It also marks the public launch of the Autonomous Advancement Initiative—a framework designed to reposition African nations as sovereign actors in the global tech landscape, rather than mere recipients of foreign technology.
“This initiative represents a turning point in Africa-France relations,” says a representative from the French-African Foundation. “It’s about empowering the people who are building Africa’s future.”
Applications Now Open
African entrepreneurs under 35 have until 23 April 2026 to apply for a chance to join the Nova Garage cohort. Applications can be submitted via the official website, novagarage.africa. Selected participants will have the rare opportunity to present their ideas to an influential international audience in Nairobi.
“This is more than a Summit—it’s a platform for Africa’s innovators to take centre stage,” says President William Ruto. “We’re excited to see the transformative ideas that will emerge.”
As the countdown to the Africa-France Summit begins, anticipation builds for what promises to be a landmark event in fostering collaboration, innovation, and growth between Africa and France.
