Mólly Ephraim Academy Empowers African Entrepreneurs Through Education and Funding

Lagos, Nigeria – Since 2016, the Mólly Ephraim Academy has been transforming Africa’s entrepreneurial landscape by providing affordable training and funding opportunities for early-stage business owners. Founded by Nigerian entrepreneur Mólly Ephraim, the academy aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1: No Poverty.

Through its flagship initiative, PROJECT 1000, the academy has trained over 1,000 young entrepreneurs across Nigeria, Ghana, Benin Republic, and Togo. The program combines online and on-site training, equipping participants with the skills to launch and sustain businesses. Many graduates have gone on to establish successful ventures, contributing to economic growth in their communities.

Expanding Entrepreneurship Education to Teenagers

In 2024, the academy expanded its reach with an annual Global Entrepreneurship Week outreach targeting secondary school students. The initiative introduces teenagers to practical business training and mentorship, fostering entrepreneurial mindsets early.

As part of the program, Ephraim’s book, The Teenage Entrepreneur, is distributed free to students. The guide draws from her own experience starting a business as a teenager and serves as an inspirational resource for young aspiring founders.

“Entrepreneurship should be taught at both secondary and tertiary levels as part of Africa’s core curriculum,” Ephraim emphasizes in her book. “This shift could significantly reduce unemployment and poverty.”

A Vision for Sustainable Economic Growth

Beyond training, the academy partners with communities and investors to provide funding for promising startups. By focusing on measurable impact, Mólly Ephraim Academy aims to cultivate a new generation of job creators who can drive sustainable development across the continent.

With its innovative programs and commitment to education, the academy is paving the way for a more entrepreneurial Africa—one where young people are empowered to build businesses that transform local economies.
