University of Cincinnati Student Jayden Balwally Makes Waves in Sports Design Industry

CINCINNATI — A University of Cincinnati (UC) student is turning his lifelong passion for sports into a promising career, with his designs catching the attention of major organizations like the College Football Playoff, the Heisman Trophy Committee, and even the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder. Jayden Balwally, a junior at UC, is making a name for himself in the competitive world of sports design, blending creativity with opportunity.

Balwally’s journey began in his hometown of Ohio, where he developed a deep love for sports at a young age. “When I was about 7 or 8, I was always obsessed with sports. My dad is a UC graduate, so we’d go to UC basketball and football games all the time,” he shared. What started as a childhood hobby has now blossomed into a potential career path, thanks to his relentless drive and talent.

One of Balwally’s most significant achievements came in December 2025, when he was selected to join the social content team for the College Football Playoff. “They choose about 16 to 20 creatives from across the country each year, and I was one of four graphic designers,” he explained. This opportunity led him to New York City, where he played a key role in crafting social media graphics for the prestigious Heisman Trophy ceremony.

Balwally’s rise in the industry wasn’t overnight. His first big break came during his time designing graphics for the basketball team at Centerville High School. His work caught the eye of UC Athletics, where he landed his first internship with the Bearcats football program. Later, he secured another internship with the Oklahoma City Thunder, coinciding with their championship season in 2025.

“Co-oping with the Thunder was an incredible experience,” Balwally said. “It was amazing to be part of such a significant moment in their history.”

Brianna Brailey, a professor at UC who has worked closely with Balwally, praised his dedication and networking skills. “Jayden has been very involved on campus, and that’s what’s really opened doors for him. He’s great at connecting with people, and he’s worked incredibly hard in his classes,” Brailey noted.

As a junior, Balwally still has time to refine his craft and explore new opportunities. Looking ahead, he hopes to turn his passion into a full-time career. “My dream is to work as a designer somewhere and continue growing in this field,” he said.

With his work already gaining national recognition, Balwally is well on his way to becoming a standout figure in sports design. His story is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and seizing opportunities when they arise.
