Ohio Turnpike Temporarily Closes Eastbound Exit Ramp for Power Line Installation

TOLEDO, Ohio — Commuters traveling along the Ohio Turnpike in Fulton County should brace for temporary disruptions this week. The eastbound exit ramp at Toll Plaza 39 (Delta-Lyons) will be closed intermittently on Monday and Tuesday to facilitate the installation of a critical power transmission line, according to the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission.

The ramp first shut down on Monday, February 26, and is expected to reopen by 8 p.m. the same day. However, drivers will face another closure on Tuesday, February 27, with the ramp unavailable from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The commission emphasized that the work is essential for infrastructure upgrades but assured travelers that all other ramps at the toll plaza will remain accessible during this period.

For those heading eastbound during the closures, an alternative route has been suggested. Drivers can exit at Toll Plaza 34 (Wauseon) and follow State Route 108 South to connect with U.S. Route 20A eastbound. This detour aims to minimize delays and keep traffic flowing smoothly while the power line installation is completed.

The Ohio Turnpike, a major transportation artery connecting the eastern and western parts of the state, sees thousands of vehicles daily. The commission urged drivers to plan ahead, allow extra time for their journeys, and stay informed about real-time updates through official channels.

“This temporary closure is necessary to ensure the safety and efficiency of our infrastructure,” a spokesperson for the commission said. “We appreciate the patience and cooperation of all travelers as we complete this important project.”

The installation of the power transmission line is part of broader efforts to modernize the state’s infrastructure and support growing energy demands. While the closures may cause inconvenience, officials stressed that the long-term benefits will outweigh the short-term disruptions.

Local businesses and residents in the Delta-Lyons area are also preparing for the temporary ramp closure. Some have expressed concern about potential delays in deliveries and commuting times, but most understand the necessity of the upgrades.

As construction crews work diligently to meet the project deadlines, the Turnpike Commission has encouraged drivers to utilize the suggested detours and remain cautious in construction zones. Updates on the ramp’s status and any additional closures will be shared via the Ohio Turnpike’s official website and social media platforms.

Travelers are advised to monitor weather conditions and traffic alerts, as unforeseen circumstances could impact the project timeline. With proper planning and adherence to detours, the impact on daily commutes is expected to be manageable.

The Ohio Turnpike remains committed to maintaining safe and efficient travel for all users. This latest project underscores the commission’s dedication to infrastructure improvements that benefit both local communities and interstate travelers.
