Nigerian Businessman Olakunle Churchill Denies Divorce Rumors, Clarifies Relationship with Rosy Meurer

Nigerian businessman and philanthropist Olakunle Churchill has finally addressed swirling rumors that his partner, actress Rosy Meurer, filed for divorce. The speculation began after Meurer posted a video reintroducing herself without mentioning Churchill or wearing her wedding ring.

In a statement shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, Churchill dismissed the divorce claims as “completely false,” clarifying that he and Meurer were never legally married.

“No Legal Marriage Existed”

Titled “False Divorce Claims and Public Misinformation,” Churchill’s statement emphasized that their relationship never involved a formal marriage.

“There was no legally recognized marriage—no church wedding, no court wedding. What took place was an introduction,” he wrote. “Therefore, the idea of a ‘divorce’ is baseless from the outset.”

He also denied receiving any divorce papers from Meurer or her legal team, stressing that proper legal procedures require formal notification to all parties involved.

Allegations of Misinformation

Churchill questioned the authenticity of the circulating claims, suggesting that Meurer may have received poor advice.

“I am 100% sure that individuals without proper media experience are advising Rosy incorrectly,” he said. “Legal practitioners who operate ‘under a mango tree’ claim to produce divorce documents within 24 hours—is that even possible in Nigeria?”

He urged the public to disregard the rumors, stating that private matters should remain between those directly involved.

Tonto Dikeh Factor

The businessman also addressed his past relationship with actress-turned-evangelist Tonto Dikeh, with whom he shares a son. He confirmed that Meurer was aware of his history with Dikeh before their relationship began.

“Tonto wronged me, and whatever existed between us was ours to resolve,” Churchill said. “No one confronted her or fought that battle on my behalf.”

He pushed back against narratives that Meurer had “stood by him” during his disputes with Dikeh, stating that if she hadn’t been present, someone else would have filled that role.

Reconciliation with Tonto Dikeh

The rumors of marital trouble surfaced shortly after Churchill publicly reconciled with Dikeh following a decade-long feud. The former couple, who married in 2015 and separated in 2017, recently reunited for their son’s 10th birthday and other family events.

Their reconciliation, described as being for their child’s sake, appears to have caused tension in Churchill’s relationship with Meurer. Observers noted that Meurer unfollowed Churchill on Instagram around the time of these public appearances.

What’s Next?

While Churchill has firmly denied divorce claims, the situation raises questions about the future of his relationship with Meurer. Neither party has provided further details, leaving the public to speculate on whether they will continue their partnership or go their separate ways.

For now, Churchill maintains that the reports are unfounded and insists on handling personal matters privately.
