Nairobi, Kenya — Police in Trans Nzoia West Sub-County have arrested nine alleged members of a dangerous criminal gang following an intelligence-led operation. The suspects were apprehended in the Premium and Tuwani areas, where residents have faced growing threats from organized crime.

The joint operation, conducted by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Kitale Police Station, targeted a group accused of terrorizing locals and disrupting public safety. Authorities say the arrests mark a significant blow to the gang’s operations.

Gang Activity Sparks Public Fear

Recent months have seen a surge in criminal incidents linked to the group, including robberies and violent assaults. Residents in affected neighborhoods have reported increasing anxiety, with many avoiding nighttime travel due to safety concerns.

“This operation was necessary to restore order,” a police spokesperson said. “We acted on credible intelligence to dismantle this network before more harm could be done.”

Suspects Face Legal Action

The nine individuals are currently in custody and will soon be charged in court. Police have not yet disclosed their identities but confirm they are linked to multiple ongoing investigations.

Local leaders have welcomed the arrests, calling for continued vigilance. “We urge residents to cooperate with law enforcement,” said a community representative. “Only through joint efforts can we ensure long-term security.”

What’s Next?

Authorities say further operations are planned to root out remaining gang affiliates. Meanwhile, residents remain hopeful that the crackdown will bring much-needed relief to the area.
